“ Stopped here for lunch. Cozy yet seating maintains privacy except at the bar seating. We ordered the lunch specials hamachi kama and chicken dark meat katsu don and also an agadashi tofu appetizer. Everything was delectable, well prepared. Lunch special comes with rice, small side dish and salad, and a miso soup. Good quality fish, meat and produce. Update dinner service is excellent as well. Fresh, quality ingredients that are well executed. Ordered the tonkatsu bento box, Waygu ground beef mechi Katsu, Berkshire pork cheek, sea bass and soba noodles. We ate every last bite. Great service. Update lunch specials are delicious. Come early as lunch specials sell out often. Weve eaten lunch several times and theres always something different for the lunch specials. The mackerel and fried oysters were fantastic. Well prepared. Good portions. The oxtail curry with fried shrimp was delectable. My father finished every last drop of the curry sauce. ”
“ This place really serves the best Japanese Izakaya food in Chicago. We tried their okonomiyaki 11, agedashi tofu 6.50, chicken karaage 7, hirekatsu 14, and aburi battera sushi 12. Everything was very delicious. We especially loved their okonomiyaki because they have eggs and yakisoba noodles in it. Their aburi battera sushi was special as well as they put shiso leaves in them giving them a nice refreshing taste and smell. They also have a good selection of alcohol from sake, beer and wine. I highly recommended this restaurant. Ill definitely come again to try their other menus. ”
“ The staff is really friendly and the food is amazing. We tried Tonkatzu, Miso Ramen, Deep fried dumplings with shrimp and Black chicken meat nuggets. All of them were delicious, fresh made and very well presented. The service was fast. ”
“ There is little I have to say about this place besides that it is in at least the top five ranking of best restaurants Ive ever been to. We got so many appetizers, and every last one of them was absolutely incredible. You know when you taste food so good that you get surprised and it actually brings a tear to your eye? Yeah, the food here did that to me. There were several things ordered, but the two that stick out most for me are okonomiyaki with char siu pork, and a fried eggplant dish that had me questioning reality. Never before would I have thought that an eggplant could be so delicious. I have also heard many times before that sea urchin is disgusting, or has to be super fresh to be good. I tried sea urchin here first despite having been to Japan twice, and I was caught off guard by its smooth and almost sweet taste. It was actually really good, although something I would not have normally considered trying, I was pleasantly surprised. Great food, great times, this place is outstanding and Id love to come back again and again were it not so far away. ”
“ Dining at Torizen was a delightful experience from start to finish. The food was exceptional, the staff was attentive, and the ambiance was perfect for a cozy evening. The Tori Karaage was perfectly cooked with a crispy exterior and tender inside. The freshness of the ingredients in the Sushi Moriawase were unforgettable. Im still dreaming about the butterysoft melt in your mouth texture of the Faroe Salmon Sashimi that I had. Hands down, some of the best food Ive had recently! I highly recommended Torizen for food enthusiasts! ”
“ A must try their daily special! They are different time to time, but still tasty all the time. Real Japanese owned restaurant and authentic Japanese cuisine! ”
“ Really solid spot. The food was fresh and wellprepared, and the staff were super kind and attentive without being overbearing. Its a small, familyrun place with a relaxed atmosphere, and you can tell they care about the quality of what theyre serving. Definitely a place Id come back to. ”
“ This place is a hole in the wall. Staff is super friendly and the food is amazing. My wife who travels a lot and been to Japan to eat authentic ramen says that Torizen has the best ramen in America so far. Loved eating here and will definitely be back to try everything on their menu. If you come for dinner expect a 2030 minute wait time. ”
